This event was held on historic Glasgow Green on November 5th. You can see the People's Palace and Winter Gardens on the left and Nelson's Monument to the right. The fireworks display was hampered by technical difficulties and was about 30 minutes late starting. However, some good shots of fireworks and lazers were worth the wait! The display was fired by Millenium Pyrotechnics. |

Many people (including me) believe this to be the best ever Festival Fireworks display. The synchronization with the music was perfect. The variety and colour of the fireworks unsurpassed. It will be a challenge to improve on this next year! It was very difficult for me to choose a selection of photographs for my website from the many pictures I took that evening. The photo to the left is the famous "waterfall" effect. The display was fired by Pyrovision. |

A third and awesome contribution of photographs by Glen Pearson from the Plymouth fireworks competion. Glen uses Minolta Dynax 5, with a 28mm-70mm sigma lens and 100 ISO Konica film. That explains the gorgeous saturated colours in these photos. |

I
was not able to go to Southport this year, fortunately Glen sent
me some pictures of the event. You can see his earlier photos here |

Along with Edinburgh (which, sadly, did not have fireworks this year due to bad weather) Sydney is one of the places to be on New Years Eve and I have always dreamed of seeing the fireworks on the harbour bridge. I took these pictures from the Bennelong lawn in front of the Opera House. The first six photos are from the early evening fireworks, the rest were taken at midnight. The display was fired for the fourth successive year by Foti International Fireworks |

This is the second time I've visited the Alton Towers Halloween Fireworks (see my earlier film photographs in the gallery below). This event is extremely popular - not only do you get to ride Air, Nemesis and Oblivion there is a firework extavaganza to follow with music, lazers and a Halloween theme. |

I was very lucky to be invited to photograph this private display which followed an international convention at Hopetoun House, South Queensferry. I am particularly pleased to have captured all the elements of the event - the grand building, people, tents and, of course, the superb firework display. The display was fired by Midnight Storm, you can visit their website here. |

These pictures were taken at a recent fireworks display for guests aboard the Royal Yacht Brittania at Ocean Terminal in Edinburgh. The image to the left shows "Aqua Shells" exploding on the surface of the water. The display was fired by Pyro1, you can visit their website here. |

This was my first visit to Southport and unfortunately
I could only attend on the Saturday night - what an excellent night
it was! It was a beautiful warm summer evening
with a light offshore breeze - absolutely perfect conditions for
the thousands of people who turned out for the event.
Following a spectacular photogenic sunset and the arrival of the RAF Hawks parachute display team we had a real treat with two first class fireworks displays. |

The Edinburgh Tattoo runs from July to August
each year and is hugely popular with tourists. There is a firework
display at the end of each performance with an extended display
at the end of the second performance on Saturdays. These photos
were taken from Calton Hill on Saturday 24th August 2003. There
were several other photographers there that evening! This is
a great place to see the fireworks and provides a good opportunity
to practice as there is a display every night (except Sundays).

These pictures were taken from Arthurs Seat on
the 9th August 2003. This viewpoint gives you a rear view of Edinburgh
Castle. These are from the smaller weekday
firework display.

These photographs were taken at
Shugborough 2003 by Glen Pearson using a Minolta Dynax 5. Glen
tells me this
was his first attempt at firework photography. He has achieved
some good results. I look forward to seeing some
more from Glen in the future.

I was lucky to be on holiday at Atlantis in the
Bahamas on July 4th. I was not so lucky with location! After several
enquiries regarding the launch site I found myself looking out
to sea expecting the fireworks to be launched over the water. Imagine
my surprise when they were launched from behind the hotel!! These
pictures were taken from an upper floor balcony looking over the
rooftops. The moral here is don't believe people - check the launch
site
personally!!

This was an excellent display (even
better than the previous year IMHO). I managed to get a better
vantage point than last year and we had a clear view across the
city. The only problem was that I should have used a shorter
shutter speed - the sheer volume of fireworks launched in the
3.5 minute display was overwhelming!! The display was again fired
by Pyro1 - visit them here.

A firework display was held in Bo'ness on 5th November
to celebrate “Carriden 400”. It is 400 years since the first part
of Carriden House (original Stone Keep or Scottish Tower House) was
built in 1602. These
photographs were taken from across the water on the north shore of
the Firth-of-Forth. The pyrotechnic company involved was Midnight
Storm, who gave an excellent show, you can visit their website here.

This was my first visit to the Firework Festival
at Shugborough on August 31st 2002 (and my first major firework photoshoot
with my new Canon D60) - both very worthwhile. I was also privileged
to meet some of the organisers and to get a "behind the scenes" view
of a major display.

This is the first time I used the Canon D60 for fireworks. I was very lucky to get these pictures on holiday in Santorini, Greece. We were just leaving the "Blue Notes" Taverna in Imerovigli when these fireworks were launched from about 1.5 miles away along the clifftop in Thira. I just happened to have the tripod with me! In this shot you can see an aircraft landing at Santorini Airport (left hand side of shot). I think the display was probably for a wedding celebration. |

At midnight on the 31st December 2001 Edinburgh was enchanted by the spectacle of a synchronised fireworks display from the seven hills of the City (Corstorphine Hill, Craigmillar Hill, Braid Hill, Blackford Hill, Edinburgh Castle Hill, Calton Hill and Arthurs Seat). You can see Calton Hill, Castle Hill and Arthur's Seat in these images. This display was fired by Pyro1 - visit them here. |

This event took place on the 1st September 2001 (yes that was a busy week for me!). I was lucky enough to have a vantage point in offices with a clear view of the Castle over the rooftops of Princes Street. I hope you like the result! |

My third visit to the Festival fireworks. I think the 1998 vantage point was better but when you are rushing to get your position in Princes Street gardens with 1000's of people you can't be too fussy! |

This was my first Edinburgh Festival fireworks concert and was the event that got me hooked on firework photography. This event is a big occasion in Edinburgh and you have to book in advance to guarantee a place in Princes Street gardens - although they usually release 1000 tickets nearer to the event. |
